Hello! My name is Elliot, and I am your survey guru! I have been working in market research since 2012. I've worked for agencies in London and Southampton, as well as client-side for Global Radio and Ben Automotive—so I understand the challenges from all perspectives! In 2023, I started a family with my partner Abbie, and we welcomed our very own ginger baby boy, Ember. Around the same time, I felt inspired to make a positive impact in the world of research—whether by helping charities drive real change, supporting agencies during challenging times, or enabling brands to embed insights and take meaningful action. All of this motivated me to take the plunge and launch Fern Insight! I offer engaging, cost-effective, and impactful surveys to agencies, charities, and major brands. Unfortunately, research is often unfairly pushed down the priority list or left out of project lifecycles altogether. Decisions to conduct market research can also be slow—when they don't need to be! I’m here to show you that surveys can be quick, engaging, and effective. More importantly, they should be a powerful tool to make informed decisions, solve problems, and tell brand stories. ​​Having worked on both the client and agency sides, I understand the challenges you face—whether it's squeezing budgets, tight timelines, or managing stakeholders. That's why I’ve developed a streamlined, proven process to ensure the success of every project. Here’s how we’ll work together, step by step:

1. Nail Down the Objective
The foundation of every successful project is a clear objective. I’ll pinpoint whether a survey is the right tool to address your problem and ensure the scope is just right—broad enough to uncover insights but focused enough to lead to action. And if you need more than a survey I'll team up with one of my network partners to deliver expert qual (focus groups & interviews) or dashboards. If you are a charity, non-profit or a smaller organisation, I'm happy in some cases to be more flexible on fees; I hope to deliver the value you're looking for.

2. Reviewing your Questionnaire...
​ If you already have a draft questionnaire, I’ll review it to:

Check for logical flow and survey length.

Ensure questions are appropriate for your audience and objectives.

Add or refine questions to gain deeper insights.

Remove anything that doesn’t contribute to your goals.

I’ll provide a fully polished version or comments for your final sign-off. 3. ...or Writing a new Questionnaire Need help from scratch? I can craft a questionnaire tailored to your needs. As an MRS-accredited market researcher, I’ll design it in Word or Excel for easy review and include programming instructions. I can also add prize draw terms and conditions and handle the administration if needed. 4. I'll build your survey DIY is an absolute bore and a challenge I want to avoid but when it comes to surveys I like to think I am research's answer to Nick Knowles. I can host and build your survey, implementing everything from basic logic to complex customisation. Need branding? I can personalise the survey template to match your look and feel and redirect respondents to your website post-completion. 5. Test, Test, Test Quality matters. I’ll rigorously test your survey to:

Check links, question types, and overall usability to guarantee a great respondent experience. 6. Recruit Respondents Whether sourcing from your lists or recruiting niche respondents, I’ll find the most suitable and cost-effective sample. I’ll add quotas to avoid over-recruitment and incentivise respondents with prize draws or tailored reports. 7. Research in Action: Fieldwork If required, I can set up bespoke emails to be sent at a time of your choosing. With everything in place, we’ll collect responses, starting with a soft launch which involves sending the survey to 5-10% of your sample. This acts as a safety net if any further amends are needed. Want real-time updates? I’ll share a live dashboard so you can track participation and early trends. 8. Clean the Data Not all data is good data. I'm no Mrs Hinch but I’ll remove poor-quality responses, duplicates, and irrelevant answers to maintain the integrity of your results. If necessary, I’ll recruit additional respondents—at no extra cost. 9. Analyse the Results I’ll delve into the data, segmenting by demographics, running crosstabs, and applying statistical tests. Need qualitative insights? I can perform text and sentiment analysis to uncover key themes and actionable takeaways. 10. Report the Findings This is where the magic happens! I’ll deliver your results in the format that works best for your team:

You’ll get clear takeaways, actionable recommendations (but you're the experts in what happens next), and insights designed to engage your team and drive decisions. 11. Deliver the Insights A debrief is more than a presentation - it’s a conversation. I’ll walk you through the results, challenge assumptions, and discuss next steps. Together, we’ll map out how to use these insights to create impact. 12. Check-In The job isn’t done after the debrief! If you need extra cuts of data, additional analysis or just some assistance with what's next, I'm happy to schedule a follow up call. Need help integrating findings with other sources like web analytics, SEO data, or marketing metrics. I’ll work with you to synthesise it all into a cohesive strategy.
